Her debut album, a collection of Russian music (CHRCD136), was awarded BBC Music Magazine "Recording of the Month", BBC Music Magazine Award 2019 "Newcomer of the Year" and Dutch Edison Award 2018 "Best Cellist Laura van der Heijden, who was awarded the spectacular "Debut CD" award, makes her debut on the Chandos label! With this collection of works from the Czech Republic to Hungary, she has signed an exclusive contract with the Chandos label. This fascinating program, selected on the theme of "Pohadka" (fairy tales), includes arrangements of songs and a cello version of a violin sonata. The way she plays with a generous sound and dignity is magnificent, and one can't help but look forward to more releases from her. Laura van der Heijden won the BBC Young Musicians Competition in 2012, and in September 2014 she was awarded the Landgraaf von Hessen Prize.Van der Heijden was born in 1997 in England to a Dutch father and Swiss mother. After making his debut at the age of 9, he studied under Leonid Golokhov. In recent years, he has appeared on stage at the Zurich Tonehalle in a duo with Fazil Sai and at the opening concert of the BBC Proms Australia with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Davies. She is also a member of the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective, and her activities are expanding to other parts of the world. Tokyo M-Plus
