Born in the U.S., raised in Canada, and currently based in Los Angeles, alternative singer/songwriter grandson is a man of endless anxiety, fear, and enlightenment. He is an activist and artist who expresses through his music his feelings of being overwhelmed by the responsibility to "do the right thing as a human being," plagued by endless anxiety, fear, enlightenment, and questions that swirl around in his head. He released DEATH OF AN OPTIMIST in 2020 on FUELED BY RAMEN, and now he has completed his first new album in almost three years. While the previous album was a dynamic expression of grandson's keen eye and assertive songwriting in his search for "meaningful change," the new album, I LOVE YOU, I'M TRYING, is said to focus on his inner self.The 12 songs on this album are perhaps grandson's most personal and vulnerable. I tried to paint an internal picture of who I am right now--themes of self-harm, family trauma, and the hidden side of touring life," he says of the album. This is the album that my 16-year-old self was looking for. It's the album I was afraid to make, and it's the album my fans deserve to hear.
