Description:

Brad Meldor, a leading figure in the contemporary jazz piano world, has completed his long-awaited new album! JACOB'S LADDER" was born from the musical inspiration and deep contemplation he received from progressive rock. His musical exploration, which is not confined to the field of jazz, opens up new territories. Brad Meldreau is one of the leading jazz pianists of the new century, and is admired by many artists and musicians across genres. He has just released "VARIATIONS ON A MELANCHOLY THEME," a collaboration with the Grammy Award-winning Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and has already completed a new album. JACOB'S LADDER" is his latest work, following his ambitious work combining jazz and classical music on the theme of melancholy. The inspiration for this album is progressive rock, which led him into the world of jazz/fusion, including Miles Davis and Weather Report, as well as exploring God and contemplating scripture through music. The album's title, which refers to a ladder leading to heaven in the Old Testament, also hints at the album's theme. Before discovering jazz, the music of his childhood was progressive rock, which he linked to the world of science fiction and fantasy works he was reading at the time, such as C.S. Lewis and Madeleine L'Engle. Eventually, progressive rock became the gateway to fusion with Miles Davis, Weather Report, and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and from there he began to explore the world of jazz. For Meldreau, jazz and progressive rock seemed to have a wider range of expression and greater musical ambition than the rock music he had known. Prog rock by Rush, Gentle Giant, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and others "hinted at the conceptual, conceptual, and emotional range of the genre. They and other (progressive) bands have not only influenced new groups and are included on this album, but also live on in the world of hard rock and mass metal, such as Periphery, the inspiration for the screaming vocals on "Herr und Knecht". The tribute must be direct in its approach. I tried to avoid a direct approach to the tribute, quoting parts of some songs and reconstructing themes" (1/2)
