Dedicated to the anniversary year of his mentor Starker, this album of fascinating cello works by Korean artists is a new album by internationally acclaimed cellist Yang Seung-won, who is active as a soloist and chamber musician. It features works by Robert Schumann, his wife Clara Schumann, and Johannes Brahms. Seung-Won released "Brahms & Schumann: Complete Works for Cello and Piano" in 2014, and now he returns to these two composers again. Together with a variety of performers, they show a different side of these repertoires. Robert Schumann's Cello Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Austrian Hans Graf; Clara Schumann's Three Romances, originally for violin, newly arranged for cello and piano, with her longtime partner, Strasbourg native She plays it with her longtime partner, Strasbourg-born Emmanuelle Strosset. And Brahms' Trio features Strosset and Seoul-born clarinetist Han Kim.Born in Seoul, Korea, Yang Seung-Won graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and then moved to the United States to study with Janos Starker at Indiana University, where he also served as his assistant. He has received many brilliant awards and has given recitals in concert halls around the world and has performed with many renowned musicians, including Christoph Eschenbach, Myung-Whun Chung, and Peter Eötvösch.
