Choral Music by Christ Church ChoirWhen the Argo LP containing Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms and Canticum Sacrum was first released in 1975, it caused a sensation. Stravinsky specifically asked for a child's voice for this symphony, whereas previously female voices had been used in the treble clef. And it is likely that he had that same well-defined voice in mind for the old score of "Canticum Sacrum". The Christ Church Mass was recorded on another Argo LP, probably in 1973, and coupled with Poulenc's Four Motets. Preston had become Christ Church's organist and choir conductor just three years earlier, at the age of just 32. Universal Music/IMS
