The quest for the "secret life of music" Tomás Luis de Victoria of Spain and Josquin Desprez of France. Although they were not contemporaries and were born in different countries, they shared the same abstract compositional style. Musicians from different periods throughout Europe recognize them as composers of the same spirit. Tablature versions of their masses and motets became popular among lute players. For John Potter, this is "the secret life of music, and historically speaking, it is its true life. Potter has been working on this creative and unique project with Anna Maria Freeman, one of the three Norwegian female vocalists of Trio Medieval, and a trio of three outstanding vihuela players. --The project explores "what happens to music after it is composed".Produced by Manfred Eicher, the album was recorded at the St. Gerold Monastery in the Austrian mountains. There, Potter previously participated in the album "Officium" and recorded with the Hilliard Ensemble and the Dowland Project. Universal Music/IMS
