But it was the beginning of a new era. With his riffs, solos, and shockingly heavy sound, the legendary guitarist who has conquered the world and led multi-platinum bands for 40 years as an LA icon is still relevant, as this solo debut shows. And now, more than ever, listeners are paying attention to Mars. When it comes to my playing, there's the Motley side and the Mars side. Either way, I always have a clear vision of what I want to do," says the guitarist. Aptly titled "The Other Side Of Mars," fans can get that vision in all its varied glory.Indeed, the album also features a number of tough hard rock anthems with distinctive riffs (the raging "Loyal to the Lie," the deep groove rock "Ain't Going Back," the hooky and melodic "Right Side of Wrong") The band's first album, "The Lost", was released in 1966. But there is also some intense modern metal ("Broken on the Inside"), gothic soundscapes ("Undone"), anguished slow power ballads ("Killing Breed"), bluesy, cinematic instrumentals ("LA", the guitar showcase that closes the album), and a few more. LA Noir," a guitar showcase that closes the album), the 71-year-old guitarist is also heading into new and uncharted territory.
