This album features works by Konstantinos Y. Stylianou, many of which are being recorded for the first time worldwide. The pieces have a strong neoclassical atmosphere, and the pairing with Poulenc and Meek demonstrates excellent taste in the selection of pieces. Meek was a Swiss composer born in 1906 who was active in various fields, including painting and literature. Stylianou has been based in Nicosia, Republic of Cyprus, since 1972. All three tracks on this album showcase virtuosic flute playing and are highly recommended for lovers of the flute and chamber music. János Barint (flute): Born in Hungary in 1961. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music under András Adrian. He has served as principal flutist of both the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Many contemporary composers have written works for him, and his performances have earned him numerous awards. Nicholas Konstantinou (piano): Born in Nicosia, Republic of Cyprus. He studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Franz Liszt Academy of Music. As a soloist, he has performed with numerous renowned orchestras and conductors around the world. He is dedicated to promoting the works of his compatriot, the composer Stylianou. In addition to the 12 Preludes, this recording of the Flute Sonata is also a world premiere. He has a wide-ranging repertoire and is known for his bold program selections, spanning from classical to contemporary music. Tobu Shoji Co., Ltd.
