Eschenbach Completes the Roussel Series! Roussel performed by Eschenbach and the Orchestre de Paris. Following the earlier releases of Symphonies No. 1 and No. 4 (ODE1092), Symphony No. 2 and the “Bacchus and Ariadne” Suite (ODE1065)—were highly praised by the European and American media for the French orchestra’s superb sound and performance, as well as the recording’s sound quality. The series concludes with two of Roussel’s most popular orchestral works: Symphony No. 3—premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and hailed as a true masterpiece—and the ballet *Le Festin d’Araignée*, with its energetic, original, and richly melodic score. The complete ballet is divided into 27 tracks, and to help listeners visualize the scenes, choreographic annotations—such as “Garden. A spider in its web looks around”—are included in the track list.
