Description:

Ace Danish bassist Niels Pedersen and other splendid guests join in! The cool jazz saxophone prodigy Stan Getz is now available on CD/LP, a relaxing and very comfortable album with an overall hard bop feel! Stan Getz, the cool jazz saxophone prodigy, has released his gorgeous studio recording "Copenhagen Unissued Session 1977" on CD/LP (180g vinyl) from STEEPLE CHASE. This is a completely unreleased, previously unreleased, and previously discovered recording made at a Copenhagen studio on January 30, 1977, the day after a sold-out three-day concert celebrating Stan Getz's 50th birthday in Copenhagen. The members include Stan Getz, ace Danish bassist Niels Pedersen, American female pianist Joanne Brackeen, who was working with Stan Getz during this period, and Billy Hart, a very experienced drummer who is still active and playing at the top of his game. Hart joined the band. This work opens with the song "Cancao do Sal" by Milton Nascimento, one of the best MPB singer-songwriters. The song is aptly titled, and is a true greeting number. Billy Hart's gentle cymbals and rim shots are accompanied by Joanne Brackeen's sweet Fender Rhodes. The smooth saxophone tone of Stan Getz and Pedersen's bass solo are the best part of the song, and you can directly feel his overwhelming experience in the minute-long, delicate, and lean bass work. Anyway, the solos by the other members are also really great, and I was deeply moved by how the individual personalities of each member could come together so well without fighting with each other. Overall, this is a laid-back and very pleasant piece, with a hard bop world feel.
