Description:

The band was formed around Svend Undseth (sax/fl/cla/g), who played lead, and also included Brynjulf Blix (key), formerly of MOSE LOOSE, and Hakon Graf (key), formerly of MOSE LOOSE/RUPHUS, who were both musicians on the Norwegian jazz-rock scene. The second album was released in 1976 from Compendium Records, a legendary Norwegian record shop and label that existed for a short period of time from 1974 to 1977, known for releases such as "Concerts" by HENRY COW, a Norwegian jazz-rock band that also included musicians who had played on the Norwegian jazz-rock scene, such as Hakon Graf (key), also a former member of MOOSE LOOSE/RUPHUS. The second album was released in '76 on Compendium Records, a legendary Norwegian record label that existed for a short period of time from '74 to '77. This album was produced by replacing all members except Undseth from the previous album "CITY LIPS". Three of the four songs on the album, 'Sun Walk', 'Summer Poem', and 'Fragmomentum', are over 10 minutes in length, making it a big song-oriented album, and the composition of each song is necessarily more complex.Aside from 'Sun Walk', a straight jazz-funk ride with synth/piano/guitar soloing freely and uninhibitedly around an undulating bass riff, 'Summer Poem' and 'Fragmomentum' are similar in concept to the aforementioned HENRY COW and early 70's SOFT MACHINE and other R.I.O./Canterbury Rock artists. MACHINE and other R.I.O./Canterbury Rock artists of the early 70's. It is avant-garde jazz-rock that endlessly repeats the disintegration and reconstruction of motifs by extreme changes in tempo and tone. The difference between the ensemble's massed and strangely tense moments and the rhythmless, tense moments is quite drastic, and it is very rare for Norwegian jazz-rock bands of the time to be this sharp, as many of them had moved toward crossover and smooth jazz. This is a masterpiece of unique brilliance, a must-listen for avant-rock fans. The master is a newly remastered recording by Giert Claussen, the engineer who handles all of the label's releases.
