Description:
A collection of five works by the young Danish composer Anasen. Noises that are typically considered unnecessary, or sounds so faint they’re barely audible—these elements are utilized to the fullest in the composition of these five pieces. Take, for example, “Pretty Sound” for piano (Track 4). Playing this piece would almost certainly cause the piano to go out of tune. Hitting the keys, scraping the inside—that’s just the beginning. She extracts and presents every conceivable sound from a single piano. “Her Sullen Face,” performed by two artists, features sounds made with paper and tongue clicks (that familiar sound from microphone tests). Each piece has a vaguely charming quality that might just make the corners of your mouth turn up a little. It also seems like a great track for audio checks. Naxos Japan
