The third program of ALPHA is a combination of works that the orchestra has been playing for many years. Among them, Chopin's Piano Sonata No. 3 and Szymanowski's Op. 10 were performed in Japan in January 2024 to great acclaim. I love Chopin's Third Sonata. I like Chopin's third sonata because the melody alone is already beautiful and does not need further embellishment. It is like the Mona Lisa, which needs no makeup. The same goes for the more technical works by Szymanowski. They are reminiscent of the rapidly developing Scriabin, but sometimes they approach the Viennese style.I like to explore its inner life, but I am not as technical as Rachmaninoff. The great thing about their works is that every element is important and expresses something," says Fournel. This is an album that demonstrates his skill and sensitivity to the fullest, as he deftly paints the shadows of the work and leads it naturally to a glorious climax. (Naxos Japan)
