Hisatsugu Suzuki, one of Japan's leading saxophonists, has recorded his third studio album for T5Jazz Records, a collection of superb standards performed by an intensely sophisticated trio of sax, guitar, and bass. Like "Standards++" and "Favourites," the material is classic standards, but this album is a collection of player-oriented (mainly instrumental) standard masterpieces performed by a classical trio formation. The new album "Stars & Smiles, Vol.1 (Players)" by Japan's leading saxophonist, Osamu Suzuki, is now available. Unlike his previous albums, "Stars & Smiles, Vol. 1 (Players)" features a quartet with piano, bass, and drums on "Starndards++" and a trio with Hammond organ and drums on "Favourites," and is reminiscent of the Nat King Cole Trio, with guitar and bass. The saxophone of Osamu Suzuki sings beautifully on this classical trio standard collection.The previous live studio album "Live from Yokohama," which was released as a distribution-only album, boasted a total of over 500,000 plays overseas (about 250,000 listeners), showing once again the strength of standard tunes in the world. Vol. 1 (Players) is the first collection of standards that features works by players (mainly instrumentalists).
