No details are known about Buxtehude's birth; when he died in Lübeck in 1707, his obituary in a local magazine stated that "he came to Denmark as his native country and lived there for about 70 years", barely indicating that he was "of Nordic origin". This album is a very interesting album. The album includes an intriguing cantata with a rarely heard text in Swedish, a testament to Buxtehude's origins. The organ works are heard with the clear voice of the Theatre of Voices led by Hillier and the brilliant technique of the virtuoso Brindorf. This is a satisfying disc. Naxos Japan
