Description:

Romantic works from Switzerland at the beginning of the 20th century! The Swiss composer Fritz Stüge (1874-1923), who studied composition under Bruch, has released a collection of his vocal works on the Swiss claves label, which actively promotes recordings of unknown works. All the pieces are world premiere recordings. Stüge was a pianist, organist, and composer who studied at the Zurich Conservatory. He then studied at the Royal Academy of Music in Berlin, where he studied counterpoint with Reinhold Zucco and composition with Max Bruch. Returning to Switzerland, Stüge conducted various choral groups in Wädenswil, where he settled in 1898 and worked throughout Zurich as an organist, choral conductor, and composer. However, his busy schedule and failing health led to his death on March 14, 1923, shortly before his 50th birthday. During his lifetime, he composed about 130 works, including six orchestral pieces, two oratorios, various cantatas, motets, and songs. The manuscripts were in the private collection of the composer's son, Professor Fritz Stüge (same name as his father) until 1979, when Stüge's grandson, Dr. Hans Kasper Schultes, donated them to the Zurich Central Library. This album contains oratorios, motets, and other works with vocal accompaniment. It is a truly fascinating work that combines the Baroque era with beautiful melodies reminiscent of his mentor Bruch.Performed by the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in numerous recordings including "The Ninth" (conducted by Pablo Elas-Casado) (KKC-6234 / HMM-902431), "The Magic Bullet Archer" (conducted by René Jacobs) (KKC-6532 / HMM-902700), "Fidelio" (conducted by René Jacobs) (KKC- 6133 / HMM-932414) and many other recordings. The Zurich Zing Academy was founded in 2011. While performing mainly in Switzerland, the group has also performed in Germany, Italy, Israel, the Netherlands, Lebanon, Taiwan, China, and other countries. The choir has performed at many music festivals and is known worldwide for its BBC Proms appearances. King InternationalAll-time best to commemorate the 15th anniversary of their debut!
