Description:

The mother-daughter collaboration of Dani Gurgel and Deborah Gurgel is the result of the musical intimacy that the two have developed over the years. Dani's syncopated and precise scat vocals are perfectly accompanied by Deborah's left-handed piano groove. Dynamic and energetic, their sound is filled with the joy of Brazilian music, swirling around jazz improvisation and creating the best chemistry through their constant interaction with themselves and the audience. Over the past 10 years, Dani & Deborah have released eight albums under the name "Dani & Deborah Gurgel Quarteto," and are affectionately known as "DDG4" by their Japanese fans. For this album, a big band of 19 musicians was formed, including the members of DDG4, 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, and 2 flutes, and their original songs were performed by 19 of Brazil's best musicians, with Deborah's brilliant arrangements and Big Ravelo's production. Deborah's masterful arrangements and Big Ravelo's production make their original songs a breathtaking work of art performed by 19 of Brazil's finest musicians, filling the listener's ears with rapture.Rodopio" ("Rodopio" is a dance term for "spinning") takes us to the northeastern Bayon, with fast-paced sambas with powerful lyrics like "Podicre," contemporary pieces with strange, relentlessly leaping melodies like "36-47," and a samba-jazz piece, "Quiet Little Lady," written as a tribute to a mentor who called her "the quiet little lady from Brazil who overwhelmed us all" and depicted Deborah's encounter with Chick Corea. will be performed on "Quiet Little Lady," a samba-jazz piece written as a tribute to his mentor, whom he called "the quiet little lady from Brazil who overwhelmed us." The fusion of Brazilian and contemporary jazz is beautifully represented in the seven-eighths time "Sem Fronteiras," in which Dani and Deborah travel around the world, and DDG19 will feature special guest Natalie Cressman, acclaimed Bay Area trombonist, who will perform with the group on the 10 She played on Dani's first album more than 10 years ago, and performed the spirited samba "DaLicenca," which began when Natalie performed at a Manhattan School of Music graduation recital, which led to an exchange of ideas. The song "Veredas" with electric bass virtuoso Michael Pipoquinha was composed especially for him, and Dani sings with Pipoquinha throughout the song in a lilting scat pattern, creating a more exquisite ensemble. <With mother and daughter Dani and Deborah at the core, DDG4 is a unique group, perhaps the only group in the world with such an unparalleled groove and superb technique for improvisation.
