This solo guitar album by Ben Goatmaker, a singer/songwriter from Nashville, the traditional "Music City" of the U.S., is a work to be listened to carefully, with a solitary presence and a lyricism that quietly seeps into the heart throughout the album. The album features 11 high-quality original compositions that combine a deep love for the great guitarists of the past, such as Chet Atkins, Kenny Burrell, and Joe Pass, with the hybrid sensibilities of contemporary jazz guitarists such as Kurt Rosenwinkel and Julian Large. Ben Goatmaker is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/multi-instrumentalist from Nashville, the traditional "Music City" of the United States.He has released good folky, good melodies on his masterful vocal albums "All's Lost, All's Found" and "Bird," and his songs have been included on the popular compilation "Quiet Corner" in the past series. He has released good, melodic works, and this album (recorded in 2024) is an album of solo guitar pieces that he has honed over the years by confronting his own roots on the guitar. As he says, he used vintage guitars, amplifiers, and analog recording equipment to pursue a recording technique that focuses on a spatial sound image. The 11 pieces begin with a monotone introspective melody, then a pale light shines through, gradually shifting to a warmer tone. The stories are told with an intimental soundscape and faint reverberations, as if they are all playing in the same room, and evoke sentimentality and nostalgia deep in the heart.
