Bach Concentus, led by Ewald Demeier, a harpsichord virtuoso from Belgium, has released a rare album of symphonic works by J.S. Bach's sons! Following their debut album (ACC 24198) featuring works by Johann Bernhard Bach, this album focuses on the Bach family. The three sons featured this time are J.S. Bach's second son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), his fifth son, Johann Christoph Friedrich Bach (1732-1795), and his youngest son, Johann Christian Bach (1735-1782) Although many of C.P.E. Bach's works have tended to be featured in recent years, this CD includes many works by J.C.F. Bach and J.C. Bach, which are still rarely performed or recorded! This album is worth a listen for this reason alone, especially since it is very rare to find a recording of J.C.F. Bach's works. The Bach Concentus is an ancient music ensemble founded in 2007 by DeMeyer and Giulio D'Alessio. The repertoire is centered on Baroque and classical works, and the group is particularly dedicated to the revaluation of the Bach family. The group's harpsichordist and musical director is the virtuoso virtuoso DeMeyer, who has performed with many of the great masters of old music, including the Kuijken family, and is also a member of La Petite Band.Following the release with Barthold Kuiken of a collection of flute sonatas by Bach's sons (ACC 24216), we shine the light on them again!
