The masterful Cassard's FauréThe expression of a great French master, Philippe Cassard's Fauré. Cassard is a pianist who first learned piano from Jacques Bloch, a pupil of Lazare-Lévy, and further studied under Dominique Merlet, who studied under Roger Ducasse, a musician who was closest to Faure at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, and can be considered a Faure player. The recording includes "Fantasy for Piano and Orchestra," the only piano concerto by Fauré, who was 75 years old and suffered from hearing loss, and "Ballade for Piano and Orchestra and others. Other solo pieces and orchestral works are also included in the collection, offering a taste of the pure arabesques, brilliance, and other charms of Fauré. Cassard is also popular for his "Notes du Traducteur," a French radio program in which he analyzes works while speaking and playing them himself. With his clear tone and deep understanding of the composer and his works, each piece resonates with great ease, making this a disc that will leave you feeling at peace. King International
