The unlimited possibilities of natural talent. The light from the stars above our heads is transformed into a melody that moves between dream and reality. Jean-Philippe Villet's own opening tune, "Peine perdue," opens with an arco like a wolfsbane. The minimalist swells from the bass resonate with the heart, and the music created with the melancholy and melodically beautiful piano of his close friend Edouard Ferret truly demonstrates the delicate and bold concept of this album. The second track, "Les Arbres sans fin," is a work by Ferrere, and the introductory six-note piano notes, like the fluttering of a star, lead us into the fantastical world of Ferrere. Viret's arco intertwined with the piano sound is like a dream or a reality. The presence of the speakers completely disappears in front of your eyes, and you are sucked into another space. The sixth track, "Dans la Peau d'un autre," is another Ferre piece. The beautiful and perfect synchronization of piano and bass at the beginning and end of the piece makes the listener's eyelids slowly move. The listener's eyelids slowly move, and a strange, tantalizing sensation of a hazy landscape appears and disappears.One melody is heard amplified like a gradation of similar colors, and although it is not clear if this is due to the frequency component, it is as if we are being bathed in alpha waves. The last piece was "Si peu de choses" by Villet himself. How much potential does the bass instrument have? The free depiction of the bass gives us a supreme peace of mind. In the summer of 2008, I encountered a work that will remain in my memory forever. (Text by Masato Maedomari - from the liner notes)
