OXYMORE" is a tribute to Pierre Henry, a French composer of contemporary music who passed away in 2017, a pioneer of the French electronic music movement "Music Concrète" that used recorded sound as material, and also known as the "grandfather of techno music". Jean-Michel Jarre, who was greatly influenced by Pierre Henri, has reinterpreted the concept of the "Music Concrete" with modern musical tools in the making of this album. Conceived as an immersive multi-channel and 3D binaural work, "OXYMORE" is a work of art," said Jean-Michel Jarre. OXYMORE is an attempt to illustrate and explore these new ways of combining technology and music. Today we have technology that allows us to explore composition with spatial audio, bringing a whole new experience to us musicians in the creative process. For the listener, it also provides a more physical and natural listening experience to sound and music. Our audio field in real life is 360 degrees." For the release of the album, Jean-Michel Jarre will also launch the VR world "OXYVILLE" and perform the album live in VR.
