This year's 40th anniversary edition will feature "THE BROADSWORD AND THE BEAST," Jethro Tull's 14th studio album released in 1982.Since their debut, the band has consistently combined elements of folk and British trad with progressive rock to create a unique musical worldview that has made a strong presence in the history of British music, but in 1980 they began to boldly incorporate electronic synthesizer sounds, The 1980 album "A" is said to have caused controversy among fans due to its new direction. The follow-up to "A" was "THE BROADSWORD AND THE BEAST". This album, which combines the synthesizer sounds of the previous album with Jethro Tull's unique folk, rock, and progressive rock sounds, along with Ian Anderson's unmistakable and unique flute melodies and strong narrative storytelling, has been highly acclaimed and has been a fan favorite for a long time. The album has been a fan favorite for a long time. The album has also reached the Top 20 in the U.S. and Top 40 in the U.K.This release, "THE BROADSWORD AND THE BEAST (THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY MONSTER EDITION)", consists of 5 CDs and 3 DVDs, with CD1 featuring a new remix by Steven Wilson, who has become a familiar face on this "40th Anniversary" project. CD2 features a new remix by Steven Wilson of material from the "THE BROADSWORD AND THE BEAST" sessions recorded in early 1981. CD3 contains rare demo recordings of the songwriting process, and CD4 and CD5 are complete recordings of the band performing live in Germany in 1982. The three DVDs also contain the CD recordings in 96/24 LPCM stereo, DTS, and 5.1 surround sound, respectively.Jethro Tull's development of his own musical worldview on THE BROADSWORD AND THE BEAST, which incorporated the sound technology of the era while also incorporating the traditions of British trad and folk, is a reflection of their current attitude.
