Description:
Editions Mego has released a new album by experimental electronic music master Thomas Brinkmann! As a tribute to the “Get” trilogy ( “Get Out,” “Get In,” and “Get On”) released by the late Peter Rehberg under the alias PITA. By fusing material from PITA and Brinkmann, the album captures the interplay of their distinct artistic voices to depict a “fading color”—a third hue, so to speak. Taking as its starting point a live performance held in Berlin to commemorate the label’s 30th anniversary, the album explores the boundaries between silence and noise, presence and absence, by stripping down, extracting, and reconstructing sound. The two dark, abstract long tracks unfold a fantastical soundscape where the ghosts of machines and their operators merge. PITA’s actual voice is incorporated at the beginning. This work, in which the musicalities of Brinkmann and PITA intersect in a hallucinatory manner, explores the possibilities of silence and sound.
