She plays a 1797 Walter instrument. Making full use of the fortepiano’s rich tonal shades and nuances, the performance is peppered throughout with masterful ornamentation and agogic phrasing. Sonata No. 8 in A minor, known as the “Key of Despair.” This is a masterful performance packed with Linda Nicholson’s delicate touch, subtle expression, and every possible nuance.
