Description:
Artistic & Folk: A Unique World The Third Volume of Smetana’s Piano Works! The third installment in the series featuring performances by the young Czech talent Chekhova. Smetana’s Czech Dances include the first collection—consisting of four polkas in Smetana’s favored style—and the second collection, which significantly expanded the repertoire to include a total of 10 folk dances, including the “Furiant.” Composed between 1877 and 1879, this period coincides with the completion of his masterpiece, *My Homeland*. The album also includes late piano works such as the Romance—which became his final piano composition—and the masterpiece “Bettina Polka,” which he revised in his final years. This album offers a rich taste of Smetana’s piano music, where rustic charm and brilliant technique coexist. (King International) Smetana: ・Czech Dances, Book 1 (1877) ・Czech Dances, Book 2 (1879) ・Bettina Polka (1883) B.114 ・Polka “The Peasant Girl” ・Andante in E-flat minor (1880) ・Romance in G minor (1881) Itka Chekhova (p) Recorded: January–February 2007, Rudolfinum, Prague
