The Grand Lavois is an ensemble founded in 1999 by Bjorn Schmelzer, a renowned musicologist in Belgium, a country of great antique music. Their recording of Guillaume de Machaut's masterpiece "Notre Dame Mass" (PGCDP32110) won the "Record Academy Award" and made a huge impact on the world with its wild and powerful "old music performance. Grand Lavois is releasing a new work to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the death of Josquin Desprez (c.1450-1521), the greatest master of Flemish music, by Tielmann Susart (c.1500-c.1562), a Belgian composer and music publisher, who published the work after Josquin's death. This is a collection of works by (and possibly by) Josquin that were included in a collection of chansons published after Josquin's death.
