The leader's album was released in 2009 on Smalls Records, and features 13 songs by Michael Kanan, a piano/guitar/bass player based in NYC who studied under Sheila Jordan, and Irving Berlin, a drumless swinging piano/guitar/bass player who studied under Yaala Ballin. The backing members also play on this album. Israeli-born vocalist Yara Berlin, who has been based in New York since 2004, sings the songs of the great composer Irving Berlin on this latest release. Yara studied with Sheila Jordan and released her first album on Smalls Records in 2009, and was featured on the SteepleChase album "Music of Duke Jordan" by Chris Byars, the lead player on that album.
