Jon Tye, who later founded LO RECORDINGS and led the modern Balearic scene in the '10s and beyond as a member of SEAHAWKS, formed HYPNOTIST with CASPAR POUND, the founder of RISING HIGH, a label that had a huge influence on the techno/trance scene in the early '90s. MLO is an ambient techno unit formed by PETER SMITH, a musician who founded and engineered HYPNOTIST, and includes selected tracks from their past catalog as well as rare tracks unearthed from unreleased material produced between 1993 and 1995.The album was produced in a well-equipped studio with unlimited use of Korg's PS 3300 analog synthesizer and E-MU SYSTEMS' EMULATION II sampler, and features an unlimited amount of minimal music, German rock, and vivid ambient techno influenced by CLUSTER, BRIAN ENO, and others. ENO-inspired ambient techno with endless expanses of vivid ambient techno. Straddling the boundaries of library music, ambient, and techno, the 14 tracks appeal to the subconscious in a way that is typical of MUSIC FROM MEMORY.
