He has won numerous awards at world-renowned early music competitions in Milan, Leipzig, and Bruges. His natural, supple touch yields compelling interpretations whether on the Tewes model—which is sharp yet full of warmth—or the Ruckels model, which shines with deep resonance and overwhelming beauty. Sharygin, the composer of “Hora,” who seems to have reinterpreted the melancholy that permeates the British music of yesteryear in a contemporary style by utilizing the early music-specific timbres unique to the harpsichord, is a composer and filmmaker who moved from Ukraine to the Netherlands.
