The Consone String Quartet, one of the few period-style string quartets in the world, has been active on LINN since 2015. The Consone String Quartet, formed at the Royal Academy of Music in England, is one of the few period-style string quartets that has been active since 2015 and has won many awards. AMBRONAY EDITIONS/AMY310) was highly acclaimed by "THE STRAD" magazine in the U.K. and other publications, and in 2020 he released an album with the Swedish guitarist (Resonus/RES10260). His first concert in Japan was cancelled due to the Corona disaster, but he participated in the Takamatsu International Festival of Ancient Music in 2021 via online distribution, attracting a large audience; in 2019 he was selected as a BBC New Generation Artist, and this album is also a joint project of the BBC and LINN, and will be recording of Mendelssohn's complete string quartets is planned. The String Quartet in E-flat major, written in 1823 when Mendelssohn was 14 years old, was not published during the composer's lifetime, but his writing is already beyond the realm of studies. The performance here beautifully sings with youthful vigor the elaborate structure of the final movement, including the fugue, bringing the freshness of the work to the fore.No. 5 was composed during the composer's mature period of vigorous activity from 1837 to the following year.
