Description:

Christian Tetzlaff, one of the finest violinists of our time, and Robin Ticciati, "the most exciting conductor of our time. Since the release of the Schumann and Mendelssohn: Violin Concertos in 2011, Tetzlaff has released numerous masterpieces by J.S. Bach and Brahms on the ONDINE label, but Beethoven's only recording of the Triple Concerto in 2017. The "Violin Concerto," Tetzlaff's third recording following those with Gielen and Zinman, is a strong release in anticipation of the "Beethoven Year" in 2020. Tetzlaff, who is particular about his cadenzas, has arranged the first movement from the Piano Concerto in D major (version with timpani), and is thought to have used his own original cadenza for the second and third movements. In the Sibelius, recorded at the same time, Tetzlaff demonstrates his outstanding technique and musicality, and in the final movement, he presents the listener with a new fascination for the two works, with a dazzlingly fast tempo and unique interpretation.Ticchiati, who will be backed by the highly acclaimed Ticchiati, was appointed Chief Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in the 2009/10 season at the age of 26 and became Music Director of the Glyndebourne Festival in 2014; since the 2017/18 season, he has been Music Director of the Deutsche Symphony Orchestra Berlin (DSO). He is a highly acclaimed and talented musician. In this recording, he leads the prestigious orchestra in a head-to-head confrontation with Tetzlaff, and together they weave a meticulously detailed music. Naxos Japan
