A masterpiece from the early days of this free jazz supergroup recorded in Paris! The Art Ensemble of Chicago is an avant-garde jazz group that emerged from the African-American musicians' collective "AACM" in Chicago in the late 1960s, and their performances, in which each member uses many instruments and wears face paint, have been enthusiastically received in Japan along with Sun Ra The group is a charismatic supergroup of the free jazz world that has been supported by enthusiastic jazz fans in Japan, and has even toured Japan with Sun Ra. Released in 1969, "People In Sorrow" (People In Sorrow) was recorded after the group moved to Paris, France. The way they create a big swell by using various instruments is breathtaking. This is a masterpiece representing their early period, which was released in Japan at the time and has been regularly reissued and loved by free jazz fans ever since. The bonus track is an additional recording by Alfred Panou, who was backed by the Art Ensemble of Chicago and released as a single on the Sarava label. It is also interesting to compare this track with Brigitte Fontaine's "Like Radio," which was also released at the same time. Includes obi commentary. Commentary: Kazunori Harada
