The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra has become well known as a group of virtuoso conductors. The rich expression of the 90's Sanderling's heavy expression became more and more prominent. Schumann's Symphony No. 4 is his beloved repertoire, which he performed at his retirement concert. From its bold start, Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 is known as a difficult piece for conductors. Erich Kleiber called it a work in which Beethoven had not yet fully mellowed into Beethoven, but Sanderling, who had also been Kleiber's assistant, preferred it.The Romantic interpretation is known as a beautiful performance with a rich range.
