Audax Records is the independent label of Johannes Plamzoller, a baroque violinist of the "21st century generation" who has made his way from South Tyrol to the world. The sixth album on the label is the completion of the trio sonata collection "Paradise of Joy" by Johann Friedrich Meister (c.1638-1697), which he took over from Reinhard Goebel's Musica Antiqua Cologne. Meister had a tumultuous life, including his appointment as music director of the court orchestra of King Albrecht I, his imprisonment and escape from prison, and his service as church organist in Flensburg. Meister's "Paradise of Joy," which Plumzoller inherited from Goebel and recorded in its entirety, is an epochal and historic collection of trio sonatas that for the first time in northern Germany clearly incorporates French musical idioms.
