Description:

The long-awaited third volume of the Mozart Concerto Collection by Bezeidenhout & FBO! The third in the series of Mozart concerto collections by Junome Christian Bezeidenhout and the FBO, filled with the joy of music! Previously released HMC 902147 / KKC 5273 (No. 17, Rondo K 386, No. 22 / 2012 recording) and HMC 902218 / KKC 5664 (Nos. 11, 12, 13 / 2014), followed by Beethoven's piano concertos and the Isabelle Faust and Bach sonata collections, but this is the birth of the long-awaited Mozart sequel by Bezeidenhout, who is also known as "Mozart redux"! The combination of No. 9 "Jeune Homme" and No. 18 is similar in that they are both dedicated to women. "Jeune Homme," completed in January 1777, opens in a novel way, with the orchestra asking a short question in the Allegro from the beginning of the first movement, to which the piano responds. Known as the Jeunehomme, it was dedicated to Louise Victoire Jenamy (daughter of a great friend of Mozart), who was also a professional pianist at the time. The final movement, the Rondo, is exceptional for Bezeidenhout's nimble fingerwork and the orchestra's exquisite, unruffled involvement in adding color to the world that Bezeidenhout creates. No. 18 was completed on September 30, 1784, the birthday of Mozart's second child, Carl Thomas. This was the third year of his settlement in Vienna, a time when he was recognized as a musician (performing and composing) and wrote many piano concertos as an important means of earning a living. There are as many as six piano concertos completed during this 1784 period (Nos. 14-19). In addition, this is a work from the period between the "Late Palace" and the Da Ponte trilogy, which is truly a divine period of time. It is said to have been written for Maria Theresa von Paradis (1759-1824), a pianist, organist, and composer of the time. In the second movement, following a prelude reminiscent of Barbarina's famous aria from The Marriage of Figaro, Bezeidenhout's singing is truly eloquent. The pauses in the passages and the rich aroma of the rests are exquisite and captivating. The joy of being enveloped by the rich sound of the FBO members in the final movement is also exceptional.
