Groundbreaking Release to Commemorate 400th Anniversary of Shakespeare's DeathIn honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of English playwright William Shakespeare, an album inspired by the "Sonnets," a collection of poems written by Shakespeare in sonnet form (14-line poems), is to be released. In 2009, Robert Wilson asked Rufus to compose a piece for Shakespeare's "Sonnets," which led to the composition. The sonnets are interspersed with readings of the sonnets by actors, directors, and others, including William Shatner, known for his role as Kirk in "Star Trek. Rufus himself, Anna Prohaska, Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine, and his sister Martha Wainwright also contribute vocals to the album. The recording of this album was like the perfect marriage of my love of classical music and my love of pop music," says Wainwright. It was very interesting from a historical point of view, and it was a real pleasure to work with Marius again," Rufus said of the album. Universal Music/IMS
