The live recording of Netrebko's "La Traviata" at the Salzburg Festival in 2005 attracted much attention from the time the program was announced, and the scandalous topic of the recording caused a great deal of controversy even before the performance. The performance of "La Traviata" lived up to the expectations, and was praised as one of the best at the Salzburg Festival, with such comments as "Callas, Cottorbus and Varadi are past ...... and now Netrebko" (Die Welt). Alfredo is played by the most brilliant tenor of the moment, Rolando Villasson. He and Netrebko sang in perfect harmony. Universal Music
