A release commemorating the 200th anniversary of the births of Wagner and Verdi. Pianist Orazio Schortino was born in Syracuse, Sicily, in 1984. He studied under Boris Petrushansky and Michel Dalberto, and has previously garnered attention for his performances of piano arrangements of orchestral works by Liszt and Wagner. To commemorate this year’s Verdi and Wagner Centennial, Disc 1 features Verdi’s works arranged by Liszt, while Disc 2 features Wagner’s works arranged by Tausig. These works have been recorded numerous times, as they not only test the pianist’s technique but also allow for the full expression of their artistry.
