Rudolf Schock has a bright and sensual voice. Italian Opera in GermanToday, opera is usually sung in the language in which it was written, but in the first half of the 20th century, it was common practice to translate operas into the language in which they were sung. Boxes of rare recordings of Verdi and Puccini are now available, proving that these operas were also sung in German translation. Rudolf Schock (1915-1986), a tenor born in Duisburg, made his debut in 1937, but did not become fully active until after the war due to military service. In addition to performing with Furtwängler, Sell, and Böhm, she also performed operettas and popular songs in her repertoire and became a familiar presence on television. Schock was popular for her uniquely positive, sensual, and beautiful voice, which can be heard here in its full glory. The collection also includes a number of rare sound recordings. You can also enjoy the singing of Grindl and Metternich. In addition, a collection of arias from Italian operas by Carla Martinis, a soprano who retired from public service at the peak of her career due to a family mishap, makes up one disc.
