Waxwork Records, in partnership with BackLot Music, is releasing the original soundtrack for the film *OBSESSION*, composed by Rock Burwell. The film *OBSESSION* depicts a dreamy romantic who has achieved exactly what he had envisioned, only to gradually realize that desire comes with a dark and sinister price. “My primary focus in composing the score for *OBSESSION* was to explore the uncanny valley—that is, to find a realm where emotions are distorted to the point of losing one’s sense of direction, where it becomes impossible to distinguish reality from illusion,” says Burwell. “Curry and I spent a great deal of time together shaping the balance of various emotions—warmth and fear, nostalgia and alienation, and even the sense of liberation brought by love alongside a feeling akin to claustrophobia,” he adds. One of the reasons this project was so stimulating was our willingness to take risks—such as using hard cuts (abrupt shifts in sound) and high volume levels in ways that might even be considered provocative. Our constant goal was to make the listener feel uncomfortable.” *OBSESSION* marks RockBurwell’s debut as a composer for a feature film. This synth-driven, atmospheric, and disorienting score was created through close collaboration with director Curry Barker. It is the culmination of a creative partnership that began when the two met through a shared music project in Los Angeles. WaxworkRecords is releasing a deluxe LP set of the original soundtrack for the film *OBSESSION*, composed by RockBurwell. This set includes the soundtrack album featuring all 26 tracks, “Obsession”-themed pearlescent red vinyl, a heavyweight gatefold sleeve with a matte UV coating, a 12×12-inch insert, and new artwork by Robert Samelin.
