Description:
A collection of piano works by composer Juszef Koffler, who is credited with being the first to introduce the twelve-tone technique in Poland. He studied in Vienna and worked as a music teacher in Ukraine, but was detained by the German invasion and presumably lost his life in the Holocaust. As a result, his works have been scattered, and today only a few works published before the war confirm his achievements. Koffler's provocative works freely use and uniquely develop the twelve-tone technique. Scherhorn's "Spur" (meaning "encouragement"), the last piece on the album, was inspired by the originality of Koffler's work and is dedicated directly to him.
