A must-see, rare Haydn works at a very reasonable price. 6 CDs of Haydn's orchestral works for the Esterházy family and the King of Naples, whom he served. It is interesting to note that many of the works feature instruments that are no longer commonly used today, such as the lyre and baritone, which were the favorite instruments of Haydn's master. All of them are bright, lively, and superbly entertaining. The Huss & Haydn Sinfonietta Wien recordings collected here were previously released by Koch / Schwann, and are now available again from BIS at a very reasonable price.
