Bay Area, South Carolina-based TORO Y MOI, aka Chaz Bear, will release his new album, MAHAL, on April 29, 2022, on Dead Oceans. 13 songs on the album, his seventh under the name Toro y Moi, will be released on April 29, 2022. The album contains 13 songs and is the seventh album under the name Toro y Moix. MAHAL" follows his 2019 album "Outer Peace," which Pitchfork described as "one of his best albums in years," and his collaboration with Flume, which was featured in the global campaign for Apple's Airpods and was nominated for a Grammy Award. It follows the song "The Difference" and is the first release from Dead Oceans. MAHAL is Chaz Bear's most daring and engaging journey to date, encompassing the shaggy psychedelic rock of the 60s/70s and the modern post-rock of the 90s, crossing genres and sonic boundaries and featuring the album cover's Philippine-made The result is a listening experience that is like riding in the back of a jeepney.MAHAL is a typically Toro y Moi work, a return to the past while blazing new trails in Bear's own unique way. The album was completed last year at Bear's Oakland studio, involving a number of collaborators, including Sophie Royer, Ruban Nielson (Unknown Mortal Orchestra), Alan Palomo (Neon Indian), and The Mattson 2. Chaz Baer explains, "We wanted to make a record that featured more musicians than any other."
