Description:

Sweet warmth and refined mellowness at its finest Moonchild, the pinnacle of contemporary neo-soul, releases its latest album "Waves"! Moonchild, a Los Angeles-based trio consisting of Amber Navran, Andris Mattson, and Max Brick, has released their sixth studio album, "Waves"! The Grammy-nominated trio is known for their sound that freely blends soul, R&B, and jazz, and has consistently explored new creative horizons based on the warmth, sincerity, and advanced musicianship they have cultivated throughout their 14-year career. Following the critical acclaim of their appearance on NPR's Tiny Desk and their last album, "Starfruit," which was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Progressive R&B Album category, "Waves" is a return to their roots, but also a step forward into new challenges. This album is the most personal and emotionally profound work of Moonchild's career. All members are multi-instrumentalists who write, arrange, and produce their own music, and they have created an introspective album about "mental health," healing, and emotional growth. The music depicts the ups and downs, the joys, the pains, and all the natural rhythms of life in between, delivering the message to listeners that "true strength comes from embracing vulnerability. Building on the sound world established in previous albums such as "Be Free" (2012), "Please Rewind" (2015), "Voyager" (2017), "Little Ghost" (2019), and "Starfruit" (2022), "Waves" Moonchild's sound has evolved even further. Lush horn arrangements, dreamy harmonies, and haunting production melt the boundaries between contemporary R&B and timeless soul. The first two tracks from the album, "Not Sorry" with Jill Scott and Rhapsody and "Ride The Wave" featuring Astin Tur (released on October 10, World Mental Health Day), are a preview of what is to come. The album's rich instrumentation, heartbreaking lyricism, and spirit of "self-compassion" pervade the entirety of the album. On "Waves," Moonchild invites the listener to flow with openness and grace as they surrender to the emotional waves of life. It is this message that shapes their artistry and deepens their presence in contemporary soul.
