Description:
Stokker, Principal of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra The most important repertoire for clarinet, Weber's works This is a collection of works by Weber, the most important clarinet repertoire. This is a solo by the talented Stoeckel from France. Stoeckel, a French clarinetist, won the first prize at the Ghent International Clarinet Competition in 2022, and at the young age of 21 became principal of the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, where he still plays today. He is also active as a chamber musician, soloist, jazz player, and guest principal with the LSO. He has been praised for his sharp technique and exceptional sense of melody, and for his ability to bring the clarinet's vocal-like qualities to the fore in the best possible way. This spirited program includes two concertos with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is a member, and a quintet with the spirited Hanson String Quartet. The intimate ensemble with the Luxembourg Philharmonic is superb. Stoeckel's tone, which never loses its elegance as it sings over the stormy, intense sound of the Hanson String Quartet, is a delight to listen to. Leo MacFaul is a British conductor who serves as music director of the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki, among other positions. The Hanson Quartet was formed in 2013; it won second prize at the Geneva International Music Competition in 2016 and second prize at the Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition the same year (also winning the Haydn Prize, the Audience Prize, and the Best Performance of a 20th Century Work simultaneously). He is active internationally in both recording and performance. APARTE
