The latest volume in the live recording series from this competition is now available on the independent label of the Polish National Chopin Institute (NIFC), the competition's organizer! Following the release of the first-place winner, Bruce Liu (PNIFCCD638/NIFCCD638), the latest release features Alexander Gajev from Italy/Slovenia, who tied for second place with Kyohei Tanada and also won the Best Sonata Award (Christian Zimmermann Award)! Gajev won the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition and the Audience Award in 2015, and has many devoted fans in Japan. He also won the World Piano Masters in Monte Carlo in 2018, and the Sydney International Piano Competition, which was held online a few months before the Chopin Competition. At the Chopin Competition, he captivated the audience with his solid technique and interpretation of Chopin, as well as his colorful tone and fresh personality, captivating the audience with his emotional expression in pieces such as the "Funeral Sonata" and "Polonaise No. 5".On the other hand, he chose the rarely performed Concerto No. 2 for the final round, delivering an introspective and profound interpretation of Chopin.
