Description:

NAXOS' popular series, Liszt: The Complete Piano Works, has reached its 60th volume. The commemorative album is performed by the virtuoso Philippaerts. NAXOS' popular series of Liszt: The Complete Piano Works has continued uninterruptedly. The 60th volume is a collection of arrangements of Schubert's songs, with a mixture of different manuscripts and versions. Liszt was a great admirer of Schubert's songs, and he arranged the song parts and the piano accompaniment parts for one piano and performed them himself. It was intended to be effective as a piano piece, and in many cases, the "Liszt piano piece" aspect is stronger than the original Schubert song. It is difficult to play, especially when the melody of the song has to emerge effectively. The performer, Goran Filipec, won the "Grand Prix International du Disque" of the Budapest Liszt Society for "Liszt: Paganini Exercises" (domestic release NYCX-10139/import release 8.573458) and "Liszt: Hungarian Fantasy" (NYCX-10188 domestic release/8.573866 import release). The virtuoso composer was awarded the "Grand Prix International du Disque" of the Budapest Liszt Society for "The Liszt Concerto" (NYCX-10188 domestic pressing 8.573866 import). He clears the difficult tasks with his remarkable technique. In addition, he added his own arrangements to each piece, such as adding new notes to the bass in "The Devil King," in which triplets are played in rapid succession throughout the entire piece. The performance of "Grätchen" is based on a version edited by Leslie Howard, a Liszt scholar who is also known for his recordings of the complete work. There are several different versions of the arrangement of "Mas", but here we have two versions: the commonly performed 1844 first-draft version, S.563, and Liszt's own version in Ossia (another version you can choose from). This is an interesting disc in many respects. Naxos Japan
