Francis Pott is a British composer of choral music. His dramatic and emotionally rich music is highly regarded as a bridge to the traditions of the past for the future, and has been performed and broadcast in over 40 countries worldwide. This album features two world premieres composed in the 2010s. With the Dawn" consists of a motet mourning the death of a loved one and surrounding contemplative pieces. A mournful cello accompanies the piece, playing a wordless song. The Words was commissioned for the 750th anniversary of Merton College. Pott will present the beautiful and arcane poetry of Welsh priest and poet Ronald Stewart Thomas, set to the prologue of St. John, as a "new gospel" for the post-modern age. Mysterious choral music will be performed by "Commoso," founded in 1999. The ensemble has premiered many contemporary works in their repertoire, and their 2012 release of Pot's choral works (8.572739) is another outstanding ensemble performance. Naxos Japan
