This album is the result of a project by Birgit Rhodes, a professor of music history at the University of Vienna, to "recreate the music that was heard mainly by the Habsburgs, who enjoyed a period of prosperity in the late Middle Ages. The world of the 15th century, depicted through the sounds familiar to the people of the time, evokes a variety of things, from the sacred to the mundane. Ensemble Leones takes a convincing approach to these "unknown" works, paying careful attention to the type and tuning of the instruments they play. Recorded in 2013 under the direction of Marc Levon.
